London: Embattled US wafer maker Evergreen Solar made a heavy net loss of $411m in the fourth quarter of 2010, as it shifts the bulk of its production to China in a last-ditch attempt to survive. The quarterly loss was the result of Evergreen's decision to shut its unprofitable factory in Deve ns, Massachusetts, and eclipses the $265.2m it lost during the whole of 2009.
