EU-wide subsidies would save billions, says EC
A Europe-wide support scheme for renewables would save "billions of euros", claims a leaked paper from the European Commission (EC). The document, leaked to the German newspaper Die Welt , says a harmonised subsidy would ensure that wind farms and solar plants would be built where the physical conditions are best, and not where national subsidies give the best return on investment.
