Energy policy dilemmas have again been thrown into sharp focus in countries going down a nuclear road, as far-reaching questions over safety and regulation grow in the wake of explosions at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Strong calls have been made for a rapid switch away from new nuclear power and a phase-out of current plants. "After Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima it is time to wake up and terminate reliance and trade in this incredibly dangerous technology," says the World Council for Renewable Energy (WCRE).
