EGP builds Brazil momentum

Italian-owned developer Enel Green Power (EGP) is building up its Brazil wind portfolio and will have completed construction of its 90MW Cristal wind farm complex by the end of the year, with the 190MW of projects it won in 2011 tenders following early in 2014, says country manager Enrique de las Morenas.

EGP has 280MW of projects under construction, including the Cristal complex in Bahia, which was won in the 2010 reserve auction, and the Curva, Modelo and Fontes wind farms, in Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco, which were won in 2011.

In the highly disputed A-5 auction in 2012, EGP won the Serra Azul and Dois Ranchos project, with 30MW, while in the most recent wind-power reserve auction in August, it picked up extensions to Cristal and Serra Azul, with a capacity of 90MW.
