The UK onshore wind sector has come under attack from two groups claiming its performance is hampering efforts to meet renewable generation targets. The John Muir Trust, followed by the Renewable Energy Foundation, suggest existing onshore wind farm perform well below levels claimed by industry and government.
But these are still early days for wind, with resource modelling coming on in leaps and bounds, turbine efficiencies continuing to increase, and moving offshore producing much higher load factors.
