The fuel has already undergone testing by the US Air Force Research Laboratory, Southwest Research Institute, GE Aviation and others. "GE is committed to develop and produce the most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly jet engines for airlines worldwide," says Chuck Nugent, general manager of GE Aviation's small commercial engines section.
Countdown to jet flight using renewable fuel
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer, US engineering group General Electric (GE) and Amyris Biotechnologies have signed a memorandum of understanding to evaluate renewable jet fuel. The agreement will culminate in a demonstration flight in 2012.
