Conditions must be right for us to catch the wave
Word from the US that Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) haspulled the plug on its highly anticipated Humboldt WaveConnect wave-testing hub set alarm bells ringing in many corners of the marine renewables community. But scuppering the project is - as PG&E is at pains to point out - more a result of hefty upfront capital costs and challenges with permits at state and federal levels than a judgment on the state of the wave-energy sector.
