Brazilian coal and gas company MPX Energia has inaugurated a 1MW PV plant in the northeast state of Ceará, the first local commercial-scale project of its kind. The R$10m ($6.3m) MPX Tauá plant, in the city of Tauá,has been connected to the national grid.
MPX has government approval to expand Tauá's capacity to 5MW, and says the plant could grow to 50MW.The
