Rio de Janeiro: Brazil is developing a biomass gasification pilot plant, which it intends to present at the Rio+20 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. The R$110m ($66.4m) project in Piracicaba, a hub for the sugar-cane industry in São Paulo state, will use biogas from the bagasse of sugar cane, increasing the efficiency of the ethanol and electricity-generating plant.
