BRAZIL National development bank BNDES will focus its 2011 technology grant fund on supporting renewable energies, among other sectors. Money from the Funtec fund supports innovation in "priority" sectors. New technology in wind, solar, biogas, waste power and electric-vehicle batteries is high on Funtec's list this year.
Funtec monies can represent up to 90% of the value of a project. In 2010, the fund gave R$200m ($120m) to 27 projects, mainly in electronics and the environment sector.
