Plans to test the flagship device at the European Marine Energy Centre in Scotland's Orkney Islands had to be stopped due to a manufacturing flaw in its original bespoke test blades. Delivery of the new GRP (glass-reinforced plastic) blades is slated for early 2011, with Atlantis planning to reinstall the turbine "at the first opportunity". The first set, supplied by Singapore's Tempco Manufacturing, was found to have a fault linked to the make-up of the composite material used.
