Eventually the group aims to merge its wind and tidal-energy units with its power-transmission division, which it acquired from Areva for €2.3bn in June.
Alstom in pole position to ride Chinese wave
France's Alstom has won a €70m ($93.3m) contract to supply three 600MW turbines to the Guanyinyan dam, positioning itself to dominate the booming Chinese hydro market over the next decade. Alstom will deliver the turbines by 2014 to the project, which is being built on the Jinsha River in the southwestern Yunnan province.
