London: The company invested €251m ($336m) in Palma del Río 2, and is building a twin plant on an adjacent site in Cordoba province, which will enter service next summer. Acciona says total investment in the five plants, including the next stage of Palma del Río , will be about €1.2bn. Acciona will begin work soon on a sixth CSP plant in Orellana, Badajoz, with a 50MW capacity.
Acciona takes global CSP crown
Acciona has started up its 50MW Palma del Río 2 concentrating solar power (CSP) plant, making it the world's number-one operator in the sector, with capacity of 214MW.. The Spanish renewables giant now has a 17% share of the global CSP market, from its 50MW Alvarado, Majadas and Palma del Río 2 plants in Spain; and the 64MW Nevada Solar One in the US - which all use parabolic-trough technology.
