The new facility replaces a 3.6MW plant on the same site that had been in commercial operation since 1987. It had operated at between 2.5MW and 2.9MW net capacity. SAIC is the turnkey contractor for engineering, procurement and construction.
Kunz says the company is already working on a further expansion to about 17.2MW net capacity this year. Well drilling for a second power plant began in August last year.
