International Power, which is 70%-owned by the French utility, will develop the Rantau Dedap geothermal resource in a joint venture with Indonesia’s Supreme Energy and Japan’s Marubeni.
The deal follows Supreme Energy's appointment as concession-holder for the site in the country’s South Sumatra province.
Supreme Energy plans to negotiate a power purchase agreement with Indonesia’s state utility PLN for output from the geothermal resource before starting exploration and development work on the plant.
