The US will appoint one of Obama's consultants in the White House as a special contact for energy co-operation with Iceland.

Iceland's minister for foreign affairs, Össur Skarphéoinsson, and US President Barack Obama are reported to have discussed closer co-operation between their countries on geothermal energy at the Nato summit in Strasbourg.
