Green Core, a subsidiary of Philippine geothermal leader Energy Development Corp (EDC), will utilise its 112.5MW Tongonan geothermal plant in Leyte and 192.5MW Palinpinon plant in Negros Oriental.

“We’re happy with this deal primarily because of the low rates of geothermal compared with other sources,” says Edgar Diaz, general manager of Capelco.

“It’s good that we get 70% of our supply from Green Core’s geothermal plants and only 30% from more expensive sources,” he adds.
