Under the PPA, Envent will provide the Biliran Electric Co-operative with 8,600 megawatt hours (MW) of juice at $94 per MWh.
The baseload electricity will come from Envent’s 50MW ‘Biliran Unit 1’ geothermal power plant, which is slated to begin operation on the Filipino island of Biliran in 2012. Envent says it is only the first in a string of PPAs it intends to sign with utilities in the region in the next few months, with a likely combined value of $515m.
