Calpine , the largest US geothermal energy producer, operates 15 plants at the 45 square mile (116sq km) complex that are capable of generating up to 725MW of baseload power. They generate about 20% of California’s green power excluding hydro.

“We appreciate the Board of Supervisors’ action and recognition of this important project,” says Calpine strategic origination director Gevan Reeves. In making their decision, the board acknowledged the positive economic impact the project will have on the local job market and economy.
