Houston: Mexico is scrambling to increase energy supplies as its oil reserves dwindle, and will close the tender for the drilling crews and rigs to develop new geothermal production this quarter. The Pacific Coast geothermal field has about 10 megawatts (MW) in generating capacity. Industry sources say bids were due in the last week of January, and a decision is expected soon.
Baja seeks Vírgenes blessing
Mexico's state-run power company, Comisión Reguladora de Energia (CRE), has issued a call for bids to drill new wells at the Las Tres Vírgenes geothermal field in Baja California state.
