The geothermal atlas shows significant levels of heat flow in Victoria’s north and west area, based on measurements of natural geothermal heat flowing through the ground at more than 100 different sites.
“This new map is designed to attract and drive investment in geothermal energy production,” says Peter Batchelor, Australia’s minister for energy and resources.
“We need to find ways to cut carbon pollution when we make energy, and geothermal has a strong potential to play a key role in helping us do that in Victoria,” he says.
