The consent application for the 110-megawatt (MW) power station, northeast of Taupo, was filed in November by the Rotokawa Joint Venture Ltd, a commercial partnership between Mighty River Power and the Tauhara North No.2 Trust.
Rotokawa has also developed the Nga Awa Purua Geothermal Power Station, which will be officially opened this weekend.
The consents granted by an Environment Waikato/Taupo District Council hearing committee are subject to appeal until 3 June.
