Councillors unanimously backed the plan to build 39 turbines on the South Lochs estate of the island, but the Scottish Government still has to make a final decision over the scheme’s go-ahead.
Developer Nick Oppehheim has established two companies - Beinn Mhor Power and Crionag Power - to own the wind farm and says the scheme will create 100 jobs for 25 years.
