The 9MW Taff Ely wind farm has been operating in south Walessince 1993, and has been run since 1998 by the UK arm of Germany’s RWE –one of its first renewables investments in the country.
RWE will replace the 20 existing turbines with seven newmachines, boosting the total capacity to 17.5MW.
While the final details of the upgrade are still beingworked out, the new turbines may have a maximum height of 110 metres – more thandouble that of those in place today.
