Some 23 technologies, including novel cable protection and jointingsystems being developed at the Ormonde offshore wind farm, are vying for aslice of over £90m ($136.6m) in funding via its Low Carbon Networks (LCN) and NetworkInnovation competitions (NICs).
Ofgem’s NICs represent some £27m a year for onshore and offshore electricitytransmission operators, while the LCN is worth up to £64m a year forpower distribution companies.
