On Tuesday President Francois Hollande presented Parliament with plans to make public savings of €9bn ($11.7bn) next year, including a 7% cut to Batho’s own budget, equivalent to some €500m.
Batho, 40, and an ardent supporter of renewables at both the French and EU level, quickly took to the airwaves to slam Hollande’s “bad” budget, claiming that the French people are “disappointed” that the governmentis not focusing more heavily on green economic solutions.
