South Africa, which is seeking to cut itsdependence on coal for power, intends to add 3.73GW of renewable energy capacityby the end of 2016 through five tender rounds.
The third bid round will close on 19August and the next set of preferred projects should be unveiled on 29 Octoberand reach financial closure during 2014.
“We expect round three to be verycompetitive,” says Robert Gecelter, a member of Investec’s project andinfrastructure finance team.
