Theagreement, a follow-on from a maiden deal between the two companies for thetechnology last year, is said to represent the “first step to join forces indeveloping innovative solar solutions" for the utility market.

“Thisagreement underpins GE’s commitment to deliver innovative solutions andproducts that are tailored to the needs of the world and German Industry, alsoto support the successful implementation of the German Energiewende [the shift away from nuclear],” says Stephan Reimelt, chief executive of GEEnergy Germany.

The1,500-VDC ProSolar central inverter, which converts direct-current powerproduced by solar panels to alternating-current output, is designed to cut system losses andbalance-of-system costs.
