ZeaChem, whose investors include Valero Energy, the largest independent oil refiner in the US, raised $34m to build the plant. It claims the refinery process, in which bacteria convert poplar wood to fuel, is 40% more efficient than other technologies.
ZeaChem chooses refinery contractor
Colorado-based biofuel company ZeaChem has selected Denver's CH2M Hill as contractor for the engineering, procurement and construction of its first refinery in Boardman, Oregon. Construction is due to start this year.
