Developer Southeast Renewable Energy, based in Alabama, will supply 45MW of power over 30 years from three proposed 15MW biomass plants that the company will build in South Carolina.
The plants are expected to be online in 2012 or 2013. They would create about 60 new jobs and support others in the logging, trucking and related industries.
The utility’s other contract is for 50MW of power is with Domtar Paper that it will supply during 15 years from a pulp and paper mill.
