The report singles out Ireland’s Topaz and the energy trading arm of Morgan Stanley for failing to meet any of the RFA’s three criteria for sustainability. They are that 30% of feedstocks must meet environmental standards; they must deliver 40% greenhouse gas savings; and comprehensive data must be provided on at least half of the biofuels supplied.

The RFA report covers biofuels supplied during the first year of the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation, which mandates their levels in transport fuels sold on UK forecourts.
