Philippine company SURE to spend $90m on biogas plants

Philippine renewable energy firm Solutions Using Renewable Energy (SURE) is spending some $90m over the next three to five years to build several biogas/biomass-fed power plants throughput the Philippines.

Financing for the investment is expected to come from multilateral financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank.

The $90m project is expected to boost the Philippine firm’s total biogas/biomass-fed plants to 30 megawatts (MW).

SURE had on Wednesday commissioned its 400 kilowatts (kW) waste-to-energy plant in Lipa. Batangas. This project is part of a 1MW bundled project, according to Fely Arriola, the company’s assistant vice president for business development.
