Sources in the country’s Energy and Mines Ministry say state-run Petroperu and downstream player Refineria La Pampilla have begun importing the crop-derived fuels as the industry prepares for the new regulations.
Starting this year, refiners will have to blend diesel and gasoline with 2% component of biodiesel and ethanol, respectively. The new law was supposed to begin this month, but implementation has been pushed back until March.
