The plant will use 700,000 tonnes of clean wood chips a year. Laidlaw expects it to be among the largest, most environmentally advanced biomass facilities in North America. Complexities with the conversion added significant time to the acquisition and financing negotiations.
Paper mill purchase wrapped up
Laidlaw Energy Group has completed the acquisition of a former paper pulp mill site where it has been developing a 66-megawatt biomass-to-energy project for the past two years.
