Zardari says the world is moving rapidly towards a new fuel economy and Pakistan could not afford to fall behind.

Moving heavily towards the use of ethanol and biodiesel would not only shield Pakistan’s fragile economy from wildly fluctuating oil prices, but would also give a boost to local farmers and sugarcane distillers, Zardari says.

Zardari says that while crucial to Pakistan’s economic future, biofuels will not be pursued to the detriment of food production.
