The West Coast's largest ethanol producer has had its margins squeezed by high corn-feedstock costs and slumping ethanol profits. It has forced the firm and others to halt production temporarily to try to get some balance back into the ethanol market.
Pacific Ethanol holds off creditors
Creditors have agreed to give Pacific Ethanol, one of the largest US producers of the crop-based fuel additive, more time to negotiate new loan terms and avert a technical default on its debt.
