Under the North America-wide agreement, CSC subsidiary Thermogen Industries will begin constructing Rotawave’s Targeted Intelligent Energy Systems (Ties) – high-volume torrefaction plants producing wood pellets that can be used in coal-fired power stations to reduce emissions.
Ties uses microwave technology to produce energy-dense pellets from organic matter.
Thermogen plans to produce 100,000 tonnes of biocoal in 2012, eventually ramping-up production to one million tonnes a year.
