California-based JatrophaBioJet is being set up by investors Abundant Biofuels, carbon-credit project company South Pole Carbon Asset Management, and environmental and technology developer Mitch Hawkins & Co.
The objective is to be "a major international player" in the use of jatropha oil as a replacement for aviation fuel, says chief executive Charles Fishel. He says there is a potential market of 200 million barrels for jatropha oil as an additive to jet fuel.
