Western provinces have taken the lead in Canada in blending biofuels with diesel. British Columbia has a 5% biodiesel mandate to take effect before 1 January, and Alberta will have a 2% biodiesel mandate by 1 July 2010.
Manitoba sets the biodiesel standard at 2%
Manitoba province's decision to begin a 2% renewable biodiesel standard on 1 November has drawn support from the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA), which represents many of Canada's biofuels producers.
