The FIT will offer developers between €0.085 ($0.103) and €0.15 per kilowatt hour for three primary technologies: biomass combustion via co-firing with other fossil fuels; biomass combined heat and power (CHP); and anaerobic digestion for CHP.
Ryan capped the overall FIT at 200 megawatts (MW) until 2015.
After that, the ceiling will be lifted for biomass combustion, with an aim of encouraging utilities to take-up the practice of co-firing carbon-neutral biomass alongside their traditional staple of peat.
