The project, called Lignocrop, aims to “optimise the whole logistical chain of energy crops, from their genetic selection up to their delivery at the power station,” says the company.
Iberdrola says the project will be carried out in conjunction with a series of institutions, including the Centre for Forest Investigations (CIFOR-INIA) and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
It will also be supported financially by Spain’s Ministry of Science and Innovation.
