A shortfall in ethanol has thrown India's schemes to blend it with gasoline into disarray. Government plans to step up the mandatory blend level to 10% have so far failed to materialise.
Fortum and Metso focus on biomass CCS project
State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is teaming up with the US-based National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), for a pilot project to produce second-generation biofuels. IOC will invest around 200m rupees ($4m) in the project to create bio-ethanol from cellulosic biomass, degradable agricultural waste or wood.
