Flambeau River says the project will create the first US integrated pulp and paper mill free of fossil fuels.
Plans call for construction of the biorefinery to begin in spring 2010 with start-up in 2012. It will process 1,000 dry tons a day of woody biomass from bark, sawdust and residue typically burned after forest harvesting.
Initially, the biorefinery will produce eight million gallons a year of green diesel to be used as the blend stock in transportation and aviation fuels.
