By 2020, the European demand for pellets could reach 60-80 million tonnes, according to a report on pellets production released by the European biomass umbrella group Aebiom last year. According to the report, many sources can be used to produce pellets, both from wood and wood residues, and from other agricultural residues.
In 2005, bioenergy contributed to 66% of all renewable energy production.
