Production nose-dived in the last quarter of 2008 as a result of the global economic slowdown, hitting a low in February of 40,000 tonnes per month. But July’s production reached 153,000 tonnes, in part thanks to seasonal European demand.
Argentina also lost ground to its neighbour Brazil, which displaced it as the world’s fourth-biggest biodiesel producer, according to a report by the Argentine Renewable Energies Chamber.
