Drax, which operates the largest coal-fired power plant in western Europe, signed a deal to connect a 290MW plant in Killingholme, in northeastern England, beginning in 2014, according to Bloomberg.

E.ON, Germany’s largest electrical utility, reached an agreement with National Grid to connect a 150MW plant in Bristol starting in 2013.

Drax has previously said it intends to build three 300MW biomass plants in the UK, with the first expected to be running by 2014.
