Andrew Owens, chief executive of Greenergy, which sells half of the biofuel on UK forecourts, says last year's decision to delay the timetable for imposing a 5% biofuel quota in transport fuel for three years — from2010-11 to 2013-14 — was a huge setback for the fledgling industry.
"It's been disastrous," he told the Renewable Energy Association's annual conference last week.
