Both CPFL and Neoenergia are developing renewable energy projects, including wind farms, small hydro and biomass plants. Neoenergia is also partners in a 50-50 joint venture with Iberdrola Renováveis, a subsidiary of Iberdrola of Spain, that is building 258MW worth of wind power in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The Banco do Brasil pension fund, Previ, is a major shareholder of both CPFL and Neoenergia.
