Clenergen , based in Parkland, Florida, says it now has leased 9,000 acres of land from the institute, enough to produce 360,000 tons of wood chips a year. That amount would allow plant expansion to 45MW, if desired.
Planting trials will begin in July and full scale sowing in April 2011.
The planned 32MW first plant phase is expected to generate $15m gross profit a year, according to Clenergen.
