The arrangement will combine Nexterra Systems ’ gasification and synthetic gas conditioning technologies with a high-efficiency Jenbacher gas engine developed by General Electric Power & Water.
Woody biomass will be gasified and converted into clean synthetic gas, or syngas, that will be directly fired into a gas engine. Nexterra and GE claim the combined heat and power system will be capable of providing very high net efficiencies – up to 65% in cogeneration mode.
